30 Years in Business!

Pats on the Square are celebrating 30 years in Business this year.

Pats on the square started as Pats Pizza 30 years a go in 1984.

It was opened by Pat Bradley and Mary Keeney, they had met in Dublin, where Pat is a native and Mary was studying at The Dublin college of Catering, Cathal Brugha Street, which she absolutely loved.

From an early age Mary knew that she wanted to run her own restaurant.

Pat had moved to Galway with his family where they ran a bar, grocery and restaurant.

Pat and Mary wanted to get married, Pat did not want to go back to Dublin and Mary said no to Galway, so the compromise was Letterkenny in Beautiful Donegal, Mary’s home. They have lived and worked there happily ever since.

Adam their son works with them in the business and Belle their daughter studies in Trinity College in Dublin.

Pats on the Square started its life as a tiny pizza restaurant, Pat was the first to introduce artisan pizza to Donegal, making his own pizza bases, sauce, buying only the best mozzarella cheese and sourcing only the best ingredients, many of them locally.

Pats has evolved over the years, the original Pats Pizza moved to the Main Street in 1990 and has been thriving ever since.

Pats on the Square’s aim is to produce uncomplicated food using seasonal and local ingredients, cooked by chefs devoid of ego and served by warm, friendly professionals with a passion for their business.
